In 2008, 100% of Self Enhancement seniors graduated
from high school in four years; surpassing
SEI's 98% average high school graduation rate. This
is especially impressive since the statewide high school
graduation rate was only 74% in 2007; and the rate for
Jefferson High School, the high school in the primary
area served by SEI, was only 64%.
An average of 85% of SEI high school graduates
enroll in college, often the first in their
families to do so.
SEI staff annually evaluates the program’s effectiveness
using a format created for SEI by the Northwest Regional
Educational Laboratory. This custom evaluation monitors
changes in grades, school attendance, and behavioral
referrals based on report cards, scores on skill tests,
values and attitudes, and student interviews.
