Although 90% of SEI students
enter the program with significant barriers to success
(poverty, family substance abuse or gang involvement,
absent parents, low academic achievement, etc.), Self
Enhancement students overcome obstacles to succeed academically
and personally, often becoming leaders in their schools
and communities.
In 2008, 100% of SEI
seniors graduated from high school in four years, four
were valedictorians of their classes, one was awarded
the Bill and Melinda Gates Millenium Scholarship
covering full tuition for bachelors and masters degree
programs, two represented their schools as Rose
Princess, and many accomplished other achievements.

SEI Standards, and a 2008 graduate of Grant High School
headed to his freshman year at prestigious Morehouse
College, performed
a powerful original rap
about the challenges in his early life at the Youth
and Their Truth Corporate luncheon at SEI in May 2008.
