Statistics say without help, most at-risk urban kids aren't going to make it. As if more than half of African American students dropping out of high school isn’t alarming enough, we also know that nearly 23% of all young African American men ages 16 to 24 who drop out of high school are in jail, prison or a juvenile justice institution in America, according to a national report released October 9, 2009. Each successful graduate has saved the economy nearly $2 million per graduate over his or her lifetime based on economic and tax revenue savings through welfare and prison costs, according to the Journal of Criminology.

But SEI defies the statistics and reverses the trends. We not only see the productive community members that these students will become, we keep it real, and help them make it a reality. There’s little debate that SEI impacts students in a profound way. Yet these kids don’t merely succeed. They become positive, contributing citizens who give back to their communities, start businesses, influence others and provide opportunity for new generations of at-risk youth. They are tangible examples of a promising cycle of hope, progress, and giving back—a cycle initially made possible by the generosity and compassion of people like you.

For $200 a month you can be a Child Sponsor.

● a child for a year with inschool, after school, and summer program services.
● two months of After School Social & Life Skills Program for all SEI students.
● After School Sports, Recreation, and Wellness activities for all SEI students for one month.

Child Champion .............. $6,000

For $500 a month you can be a Child Guardian.
$6,000 sponsors
● Parent Involvement education for a year.
● Saturday tutors for the entire academic school year.
● a Sports, Recreation, and Wellness coach for the six-week summer program.
● After School Art & Performance programs for an entire year.
