SEI
believes that every child can be successful. Our staff
is dedicated to helping each participant
develop the educational and life skills needed to do
so.
The youth program offers support to youth, ages 8 –
25, during the school day, after school, on weekends,
and during the summer.
SEI’s core youth program is comprehensive, culturally
appropriate, and free to participants.
Each student in SEI’s core youth program is assigned
to a coordinator, who monitors a student’s attendance,
behavior, and academic achievement at his/her school.
The coordinator also plays the role of a teacher, mentor,
and parent in order to develop a meaningful one-on-one
relationship.
SEI coordinators work with each student to develop
an Individual Success Plan (ISP) which sets academic,
personal, and social goals on a quarterly basis. With
these goals, the coordinator and student can track successes
and develop solutions when goals are not being reached.
SEI’s program provides academic support, arts
experiences, recreation activities, life skills, community
service and leadership training.
Each student's parents are involved in supporting their
child's success through work with an SEI Parent Coordinator.

Taking middle schoolers a step further:
the SEI Academy
In 2004, SEI opened a charter middle school, the SEI
Academy, which uses SEI's successful models and principles
in a full day school program to work even more consistently
with young people in the critical stage between elementary
and high school. To learn more about the SEI Academy,
