Identified as one of the largest African-American service projects in the city of Portland, “Follow my Lead: Community Day of Service” is an event dedicated to serving the community with a series of service projects at local businesses, schools and non-profits. “As Black men, we have a mandate to be an influence in our community. We have to influence by example,” said Art Williams, Jr., Co-Owner of The Influential Grooming Lounge. “I believe great influencers have to learn to serve others which is why this event is so important.” SEI believes this is an opportunity to present positive male examples to young African-American male students in the Portland area.
The event will begin with breakfast catered by Kee’s Loaded Kitchen, and a program in the auditorium where the President of Lindfield College, Miles Davis, will be the keynote speaker. Following the program participants will break out into multiple service projects.
