The SEI family wants to take this opportunity to say thank you to Howard Hedinger’s family and friends. No words can describe the impact that Howard has had on the Portland community. Howard was very generous with his time and treasure. He was one of Portland’s last great philanthropists. From an era that included Arlene Schnitzer, Bill Swindell, Maribeth Collins, Eli Morgan, Ed and Sue Cooley, Jerry Jones, Milt Lampros, Bob Pamplin and many others. Howard’s carefree attitude and big heart made the difference for many nonprofits and to the individuals they served. For SEI, Howard on two occasions, made the largest single gift of 1 million dollars each to support our programs. Howard was loved by all and will be missed by all. Howard was the god-father of giving and set a high bar for others to emulate. May his acts of kindness be an inspiration for others to follow.
