JASMINE’S HEALING JOURNEY

Jasmine, a domestic violence survivor and mother of 3, lost her job due to COVID-19. She reached out to Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) through our domestic violence hotline and was connected with an SEI advocate. Once connected, Jasmine shared that leaving her abuser and losing her job put her in a challenging financial position, and she was afraid that her family would become homeless. She felt that her only other option was to rely on her abuser.

Hearing this, her advocate took immediate action and began working with Jasmine to create a long-term safety plan and encouraged her to engage in programs through our agency designed to aid victims and survivors of abuse. These programs provide resources that help victims and survivors heal from their trauma and teach them what healthy boundaries and love entail. 

Through the support and guidance of SEI, Jasmine is now linked with a support system that is empowering her through her healing journey. She has received rental assistance from our agency so that her family will have a roof over their head and has attained another full-time job! 

Jasmine’s advocate shared that she received a call where Jasmine exuded new confidence and hope. She is now moving forward and rebuilding her life and home, brick by brick, but no longer with fear.
