A LIFE FOREVER CHANGED

Peggy was homeless for over a year until she connected with Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI) by happenstance. The single mother believed she was calling a different agency when she dialed our phone number and spoke extensively about the circumstances surrounding her homelessness with one of our staff, Ellon. She said for the first time, she felt heard.

At SEI, we value the voices and experiences of others, no matter how unorthodox, and strive to exemplify courtesy and honor, always. In the case of Peggy, who grew into adulthood believing that she would amount to nothing because of the negative words spoken over her by others, patience, hope, and positive affirmations were what she needed. 

In addition to positively affirming Peggy, Ellon worked with her to attain housing and other forms of assistance to address her severe mental and physical ailments. Peggy has now successfully independently maintained her home for two years and decided to return to school to pursue a degree in counseling. She now has an Associate’s degree and is well on her way to becoming an agent of change, in the same manner that SEI was for her!

Ellon recalls the words that she spoke to Peggy that she trusts shifted her scope of being. She says the simple words ‘I Believe In You” changed the entire trajectory of Peggy’s life. These words, woven into SEI's very fabric, are forever transforming lives, just like Peggy’s.
