DAVID’S TRANSFORMATION THROUGH CFP

Having been in foster care for almost ten years, David was emotionally exhausted from constantly being moved from one home to another. Recognizing the toll that multiple placements and the disconnection from his family had on his mental health, the Department of Human Services (DHS) sought mental health support for David, to no avail.

Knowing that Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI), through our Community & Family Programs (CFP) department has programs specially designed for children just like David, his DHS caseworker approached our agency hoping to find resources that would stabilize him and return him to a safe home. At SEI, our wrap-around services not only serve individual young people but their entire family.

Through SEI’s In-Home Safety and Reunification (ISRS) services, David and his mother received clinical and emotional support. Additionally, a plan was developed to aid his mother in successfully parenting David while restoring trust between them. Through SEI’s commitment to this family's total restoration, David and his mother also attained housing and now have a place to call home. David’s story truly shows SEI's reach because his story reflects both inward and outward transformation.
