Self Enhancement Inc. (SEI) is developing our Mississippi Ave property into a 28-unit affordable rental housing project in North/Northeast Portland, designed specifically to serve families with children, survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and single-parent households. The project’s design is the result of extensive engagement with these focus populations, ensuring that it directly addresses their unique needs and lived experiences.

This project—our first affordable rental development—was conceived when our anti-domestic violence and housing teams came together and identified a severe shortage of housing options for the people we serve. We knew we had to be part of the solution. With Mississippi Ave, we fully embrace the Housing First approach, ensuring that housing is provided as a fundamental right, not a privilege. By integrating comprehensive support services, we are not just providing homes—we are creating pathways to stability, opportunity, and a thriving future for every resident.
