SUMMER PROGRAM

Creating opportunities EVEN when school is out

SEI’s Summer Program presents students with options and exposure focused on academic and creative enrichment, recreational activities, community service and career pathways during the summer months.

Summer Options

For up to five weeks, students from second grade to post-high school participate in robust full-day programming at various sites. The Summer Program emphasizes academic enrichment, recreational activities, involvement in the arts, exposure to the community, and preparation for post-secondary education and employment.

Academics

Research shows that without continued learning during the summer, some students tend to fall behind instead of moving forward. To combat this “summer slide,” SEI coordinators select academic classes based on their students' needs. Class options include: credit recovery, college prep and skill-building.

Enrichment & Exposure

When presented with options and exposure, students discover their purpose and realize their potential. During the summer, age-appropriate classes and activities provide new experiences that help students understand that life has options. Class options include:leadership, graphic design, gender-specific classes, and recreation.

Work Readiness

As part of SEI’s cradle-to-career continuum, students take part in summer job readiness training, work experiences, and internships. Through partnerships with local businesses and organizations, they gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to pursue meaningful career pathways.
