Schools uniting neighborhoods (sun)
uniting schools
with community
SEI’s SUN Community Schools provide targeted academic support, engaging enrichment opportunities like sports, arts, cooking, and cultural programming, as well as safe spaces where students can learn and grow beyond the school day.
Multiplying Opportunity
With 17 sites, we don’t just deliver programs—we multiply opportunity. For every $1 of city funding, SEI provides up to $8 in services, expanding what’s possible for youth and families across the Portland metro area.
SEI also ensures families are supported, offering wraparound services that address real needs, including access to five on-site food pantries at select locations. With over 20 years of experience and strong local partnerships, SEI maximizes impact by helping youth and families thrive while making every dollar go further.

SUCCESS STORY
Season of Giving at Reynolds
Over winter break, three SEI students jumped in to volunteer with WomenFirst Transition & Referral Center, helping hand out Christmas gifts and capture holiday moments with photos.
Their impact didn’t go unnoticed—so much so that SEI’s Elite Steppers Club were invited back in February to perform in WomenFirst’s Black History Month celebration. Giving back, building connections, and making a difference—these students truly shine!
