SUCCESS THROUGH OPTIONS

What inspires a child to learn?  We believe inspiration springs from some very simple fundamental beliefs:  All children can learn; all children have a gift; all children can and will succeed.  Turning these beliefs into a program that works requires four key elements that are absolutely essential for creating a successful youth program.

CONTINUUM OF SERVICE

We help kids navigate every phase of their development from 6th grade to  post-secondary.

THE RELATIONSHIP MODEL

We work with kids wherever they are at risk - in school, at home and in the community.

COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH

We build deep relationships with kids that are based on trust and mutual respect.

CULTURE OF SUCCESS

We cultivate a positive environment, where success is clear and attainable.

Strategy

THE INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS PLAN (ISP)

Coordinators work with students to develop and implement an Individual Success Plan with personal, social, academic and career goals, and the strategies to meet them. Coordinators meet with each of their students once a month to check, discuss and document progress toward ISP goals and to strengthen one-on-one relationships.

STUDENT SELECTION

Referred by teachers, counselors, school admin, and community connections, students are on-boarded in the Fall of the student’s 6th or 9th grade year. The program is also available to current SEI participant’s younger siblings. We work in twenty-one K-12 schools to support youth in need.

CONTINUITY & CONSISTENCY

Students remain in the program from sixth grade until they complete college and/or enter a living wage job.  Students participate in SEIís in-school, after-school and summer academic, enrichment and employment preparation programs. The parents of SEI students are also involved and supported by Parent Coordinators and our Community + Family Programs department. Post High School Coordinators advise and support students to enter and graduate from college, find employment and develop a career.
